Here's an early, eminently collectible SCR-59 wireless radio set, manufactured by Western Electric ca. 1917.  These sets were used in World War I by American pilots monitoring the activities and positions of US ground troops, who were constantly relaying information to them -- often with a BC-13A wireless telephone set -- from the field of battle below.
Condition is excellent throughout, and the radio is original throughout.
Clean panel, with no damage and no repairs. Clean cabinet, with a nice original finish. All 4 brass cockpit mounts are still intact and in good condition. Both brass latches are complete and working. Undamaged knobs, and all of them are original. Original brass fittings and original brass escutcheons.  All 4 brass corner protectors are still intact. Original brass tags are in good condition.  Fully legible, with no corrosion.
Chassis is original throughout, and it's clean.  No deteriorating wire. No crumbling tar. Nice original winding on the tuner. The original wiring diagram is in good condition -- complete and entirely legible.
The radio comes with a complete set of VT-1 display tubes (open filaments).
Overall, a really nice example of this historic set.
Shipping weight, properly packed, will be approximately 18 lb.
