    Description

WW I Era Kerr No-Bukl Sling.  Adopted by US forces in 1917 because it was cheaper and easier to adjust than leather slings.  Widely issued, especially to USMC, who earned their "Devil Dogs" nickname in places like Belleau Wood.  No name or SN inked in, so probably never used in the field, but I am listing it as used because of its age.  Many of these were put into storage postwar without ever being issued.  Apparently several versions were made over the years to accommodate weapons of different lengths, from Tommy guns to the 1917 Enfield.  Longer strap measures approximately 46 1/2".  Shorter segment is about 14 1/4".   Very clean for age.  A fascinating piece of military history you can own.   Just bought new, smaller house and wife says I have to sell everything that won't fit in one closet.
