Auction Wizard 2000 Listing Template - AW2KLOT#:15940During the 1950-60s there was a "Western Cowboy and Indian" craze in the USA. Every TV station had a western show and little boys loved to dress up and play Cowboys and Indians. I guess Levi's jeans felt the need to jump on the band wagon.
This is a 1954 Levi Strauss brochure about “Western Indian lore.” It’s a nice round-up of stereotypes and appropriations of Native Americans. We start off with an angry, bare-chested (and Levis-clad) man with a tomahawk, shield, moccasins, and headdress; I’d guess he’s supposed to be a warrior doing a war dance. Has a section on Indian sign language, what the different feather meant on an Indian's head, and some of their weapons. Brochure measures 3 x 6 inches and open to 6 panels.
