    Description

    This estate fresh, un-restored solid cherry wood humidor from the 1880's measures 9" x 14" x 8 1/2" overall and retains original surface on the outside and original zinc interior.  One end has a tinsmith made  zinc drawer for a damp sponge and all of the exterior is decorated with delicately cut-out and colored pictorial paper decorations of birds, trees, castle, horsemen and flowers.  It retains original brass hinges and ceramic knob and is sturdy (dirty) and usable with some gentle cleaning.  The wood bottom is a bit soft from years of dripping moisture from the "sponge drawer" and there is significant wear and loss to the applied paper decoration on the lid.  UNIQUE bit of Americana in un-enhanced condition.
