Carved SOAPSTONE TURKEY Lidded Trinket Jewelry Box INDIA Very Nicely Detailed!
Box/Dish is in overall Excellent - MINT condition. There is a small (1/4" x 3/8") mark at the top of the lower portion that looks like a waxy type substance which appears to be able to be scraped off/removed. Aside from that there are just some generally light chips, scratches, marks, etc. typical of age, handling, storage, etc. It does not appear as though this was ever actually used as it is still in what appear to be the original bags/wrapping which it possibly came in from the place of original purchase (Shown in last photo). Please see the photographs for the most accurate description as I tried to show as much detail as possible in them.
Measures overall approximately 6 1/4" Long x 4 1/2" Wide x 1 3/8" High and Weighs about 1 Pound 10 Ounces. There is a "Made in India" label on the underside. Aside from that there is nothing I see to identify maker, age, etc. Though I'm NOT certain the lid appears to be hand carved and has quite a bit of detail.
