antique wood box crates & soap & detergent advertising
DIMENSIONS:
21" Width x 16" Depth x 8 ½" Height
Weight:
8 lbs. 4 oz.
DESCRIPTION:
Incredibly bright, vivid, crisp, saturated sidewall stamped blue ink period typography and the partial remnants of a wonderful front short sidewall original paper label. All original and absolutely untouched. It was never lacquered and still has its original dry, matte wood patina. The original paper label is affected principally along its bottom edge but is still largely intact and fortunately still present and largely as it was originally constituted. This is an earlier
wood box advertising soap crate,
in that it has nailed corners, which seemed to precede finger-joined corners as corner fastening techniques in box construction. The wood box crate has all wood construction, a wood plank floor and stylized, period sidewall graphic iconography in nearly undiminished blue ink on both long sidewalls. The paper label is in deep Prussian blue and creamy white font. This
'Highly Perfumed White Prussian Soap'
wood box crate was made for the
Fisk Manufacturing Company
of
Springfield, Massachusetts.
Handsome.
CONDITION:
Good to Very Good overall antique condition.
