    Description

Mauchlin Ware Thimble Holder Covered Pot w. Handle Walton-On-Naze C. 1900.
This covered handled pot would have contained a green velvet nest for a thimble.  Sadly, interior lining has been lost to time.  Still a lovely Mauchlin ware piece, depicting Walton-on-Naze.
Walton-on-the-Naze is a small town in Essex, England, on the North Sea coast in the Tendring District. It is north of Clacton and south of the port of Harwich. It abuts Frinton-on-Sea to the south, and is part of the parish of Frinton and Walton. It is a resort town, with a population of 12,054.
No doubt this was a souvenir of someone's sea-side visit.
Condition:  A portion of the top finial has been broken off.  Image of Walton-on-Naze is clear and shows no erosion or degradation.
    Lid fits snugly.
There are some miniscule chips around bottom edge of cover. So, combined with other issues (lost lining, finial break), appears this thimble holder got a lot of use in its past life.  Wood finish is good.  No other mentionable issues.  Price reflects condition issues.
    Dimensions:
    Base diameter: 1.5"
    Widest diameter: 2"
    Handle: 2"
    Height: 2"
