North American ( East Coast Area ) Pocketbook Basket w/Hinged Lid & Closure

This is an estate sale find at a home that was selling antiques . This is what I believe to be a small pocketbook basket made in the USA , I believe on the east coast area of the USA .
It is tightly woven , spherical shaped with woven handle attached to the lid. The lid has woven hinges on the back allowing the lid to open back . The front has woven lock closure with bamboo cane lock.
This basket is preowned and in excellent condition,
The height is (including the handle on lid ) 7” without handle 4 1/2” .
The diameter is 7”
