Up for your consideration is a Vintage Victorian Style Crochet Wishbone Thimble Holder with a Simon Bros Thimble.
Thimble holders were believed to bring good luck to your home.
I came across this beautiful piece at a church rummage sale where I was volunteering.  This piece is old.  We believe it came from the estate of a parishioner.  This thimble holder is a chicken bone that has hand crochet covering most of it.  There is a cradle that hangs between the top of the wishbone that holds a Simon Bros thimble. Woven in the crochet is a light blue velvet ribbon that is tied at the top in a bow.  Placed in the crochet is a blue crochet needle. The thimble has different flowers around the edge.  We do not know what type of metal the thimble is made of.  It is not perfectly round.   Please see pictures as they give the best description.  This pretty piece measures approximately 5 1/4" across the top, 5 1/2" (tip of wishbone to bottom of crochet) and 6 1/2" from ribbon to bottom.  This piece is very collectible.  It will make a great gift for anyone who collects thimbles, thimble holders, handmade items or items of good luck.  Check out our store to see the other thimbles and unique items that we have for sale.
